California’s Used Mattress Recovery and Recycling Act (AB 187) requires that, effective Jan. 1, 2021, any party that sells mattresses to end users in California and delivers them by common carrier within California must offer to pick up a used mattress for recycling from that consumer at no additional charge within 30 days of the delivery of the new mattress — unless the used mattress is contaminated and poses a risk to personnel, new products, or equipment.

California residents requesting pickup of their used mattress must submit their name, original delivery address, order date and order ID to Brentwood Home via online chat. Digital pictures must also be attached and submitted to clearly demonstrate that the used mattress is in suitable condition for pickup. Note that pickup services may be delayed and not available due to local Covid-19 related restrictions.
